Song Review
This song was written between 2009 and 2010 by Jaswal’s older brother, Yasir Jaswal. The two brothers worked out the song structure and main component parts together at a friends studio.
The song title suggests a sense of escaping and going to the place beyond one’s dreams where one is alone in his/her world. Jaswal writes about a person who is treated very badly and no one listens to what he has to say. But when he sleeps and dreams, that’s the world he really lives in. He is the master of his own world and he feels he is treated well when he is here.
The character in Jaswal’s song is going through a phase in his life which all teenagers can relate to. Jaswal felt that teenage life can be very difficult and confusing in terms of relationships, finding your place in the world and direction for your future. A number of different elements in a time of confusion inspired Jaswal to write this song.
“Teenage life can be difficult. Love is strange and there are many strange incidents and I think a number of these had some effect on me and im glad I could put these feelings on paper.”
This song presented an opportunity to plot the journey from a worldly love to spiritual love and back to worldly love in another light. The change of moods in the song is a reflection of this philosophy.
